Vivien Leng is a 15-year-old blues, rock, and jazz guitarist and singer-songwriter based in the UK, whose explosive talent is capturing the hearts of music lovers and industry giants alike. Driven by an old-school soul Vivien’s musical journey is a powerful testament to passion and pure dedication.
Her story began at the age of 11, sparked by her grandad’s captivating tales of the Swinging Sixties and his own days performing as "The Dynamic Cliff Charles." Under his guidance, Vivien didn't just rapidly improve on the instrument; the duo forged an unbreakable bond. Together, they spent countless nights studying the legendary techniques of Paul Kossoff, Rory Gallagher, George Benson, B.B. King, Peter Green and more —icons who quickly became her obsession and fueled her determination to carve out her own path in music.
By the age of 13, Vivien was already taking the live music scene by storm. She began gigging with the Hokum Boys, eventually officially joining the band and establishing herself as a formidable live performer in the Cornish music scene. Around the same time, she fearlessly immersed herself in local jazz jam sessions, sitting in with phenomenal, established players like Deirdre Cartwright. These high-level collaborations accelerated her performance skills and helped her cultivate a fiercely loyal local fanbase.
Her undeniable talent soon caught the attention of major festival organizers. When she performed at the St Ives September Festival, they were left stunned by her maturity and technique, proudly noting:
"Don't let her age fool you, as she is one of the best guitarists we have had the fortune to play with!"
Vivien's meteoric rise shows no signs of slowing down. Most recently, she reached an extraordinary milestone when she was invited to the exclusive Gibson Garage London by Phoebe Winstanley. There, she had the incredible opportunity to meet and perform live for the Gibson team—solidifying her status as one of the UK's most exciting young guitar talents.
